Ayurvedic Aspect of Femoral Hernia
In Ayurveda, hernia of any type is called antra vriddhi and antra vriddhi is the result of tridosha imbalance that is vata dosha, pitta dosha and kapha dosha. Acharya charak suggests that antra vriddhi roga are mainly the result of vata dosha aggravation. Though kapha dosha and Pitta dosha also play their role in this condition. It is also mentioned by Aacharya Charaka that virechanadi karma in this condition can be of great help if there is presence of amavastha. They help in anulomana of vata dosha and hence help in pulling the protruded intestine to its actual position.
