Ayurvedic Treatment For Reactive Hypoglycemia
Abstract
Reactive hypoglycemia is a condition in which the body’s blood glucose level falls down after a meal. It is usually within four hours after taking a meal. This condition is different from low blood sugar that occurs while fasting. This is also called postprandial hypoglycemia or sugar crash and is a term used to describe recurrent episodes of symptomatic hypoglycemia occurring within four hours. In this article we are going to discuss Reactive hypoglycemia and its Ayurvedic management.
Etiology/Causes
No exact known cause is detected. Most cases of reactive hypoglycemia are still open to debate. But scientists believe that maybe the body releases excessive insulin after taking a meal which further causes low blood glucose level in the body.
Other Possible Causes Of This Condition Are
- Alcohol
- Certain surgical procedures (gastric bypass surgery or ulcer treatment)
- Tumors
- Metabolic disorders
Clinical Symptoms/Signs And Symptoms
The symptoms depend on the individual’s hydration level and sensitivity to the rate of magnitude of blood glucose concentration. A crash is usually felt after the four hours of heavy carbohydrate consumption.
