If someone is following an unhealthy diet and lifestyle for heart health then they may be at a risk of developing heart diseases. There are a lot of heart issues from which people are suffering nowadays, among this one is Arrhythmogenic right ventricular cardiomyopathy (ARVC). About this heart condition we will study in the following article along with its Ayurvedic management.
INTRODUCTION
Arrhythmogenic right ventricular cardiomyopathy is one of the heart diseases that generally occurs in adulthood. This affects the myocardium (muscular wall of the heart) part of the heart. This may lead to breakdown of the myocardium as the time passes, and also increases the risk of arrhythmia (abnormal heart rate) and sudden death. In early stages this condition may not lead to any symptom but the affected people are at risk of sudden death, mainly during strenuous exercise. In later stages myocardium leads to breakage and further causes heart failure. This is a brief description on ARVC, now we will further discuss this disease in detail.
CAUSES OF ARVC
This condition may occur as a genetic mutation, in almost 13 genes. The genes involved in this mutation are desmosomes. These genes attach to the muscles of the heart and provide them with strength. But if there is mutation in these genes, they may hamper the strengthening of the heart muscles and further cause ARVC. Firstly it hampers the myocardium bordering the right ventricle and these damaged muscles get replaced with scar tissue and fat. On building up of this abnormal tissue the walls stretch out which prevents the blood from pumping effectively. This further hampers the electrical signals which are responsible for controlling heartbeat. If there is no such evidence for gene mutation then there is no such other cause which is known.
SYMPTOMS OF ARRHYTHMOGENIC RIGHT VENTRICULAR CARDIOMYOPATHY
Symptoms may vary from patient to patient but following are the symptoms which are usually found in the patients of ARVC:
- Fainting
- Dizziness
- Fatigue
- Heart palpitations
- Shortness of breath
- Persistent cough
- Chest pain
- Swelling in legs
DIAGNOSIS OF ARRHYTHMOGENIC RIGHT VENTRICULAR CARDIOMYOPATHY
If any of you experience the above symptoms, you must visit your nearby physician. The physician may ask about your past history and family history. After going through your case, if a physician sees the above symptoms associated, he may refer you for a clear diagnosis. For this purpose physicians may ask you to get your ECG done, EEG and angiography too. With this the diagnosis of ARVC is clear and if the results come positive for ARCV then you must start the treatment for it as soon as possible.
AYURVEDIC VIEW OF ARVC
As per Ayurveda there is no such direct correlation of ARVC but as there is a gene defect as the main cause so we can correlate it with beej dushti. In beej dushti there is a defect in beejbhaga (sperm and ovum). If A Defective sperm and defective ovum takes part in the fertilization then there is a chance of the same condition to be inherited in the children. As per modern medicine there is no such treatment for the same but in Ayurveda we can give herbal remedies and can improve the quality of life of the patient. For the same purpose Planet Ayurveda provides the following herbal remedies to deal with this condition.
