How to Treat Recurrent Furunculosis with Ayurveda?
As per Ayurveda aspect:
In Ayurveda, Recurrent Furunculosis is not properly mentioned but according to the symptoms and causes it can be correlated to “vidradhi”. Vidradhi is caused due to the imbalance of doshas in the body.

Furuncle is an acute necrotic infection of the hair follicles with positive Staphylococcus aureus. Staphylococcus aureus is the most persistent bacterial pathogen which causes infection that may have local or generalized character. This condition is usually associated with Staphylococcus aureus and mayalso be caused due to other bacteria as well. The nodules are tender, swollen and red which are usually appear on the hair-bearing parts of the body.
What are the causes of recurrent furunculosis?
Furuncle can be caused anywhere on the body and the mass is filled with pus, fluid, and dead tissues. The fluid may drain out of the carbuncle but sometimes the mass is so deep that it can be drained own its own. The bacteria spreads infection so easily that even the family members may develop carbuncles at the same time.
It may also occur due to the following causes:
- Poor hygiene
- Friction from clothes
- Poor health
- People with diabetes or any skin kin infection or weak immune system are more likely to develop furuncles.
What are the symptoms of recurrent furunculosis?
Recurrent furunculosis is a condition in which there is a formation of swollen mass or lump under the skin. The size may be as small as the size of a pea or as large as the size of a golf ball.
The following symptoms are:
- Having a white or yellowish colored center that contains pus.
- Fever
- Fatigue
- Discomfort
- Itchy skin
- Redness on the affected area
How to diagnose recurrent furunculosis?
The diagnosis of Recurrent Furunculosis can be made by observing the typical symptoms and signs associated with the condition. Specialized laboratory tests are not required for the diagnosis. If the infection spreads deeper into the tissues then pus culture may be taken from the affected area to identify the type of bacteria for the infection.
