WHAT IS UREAPLASMA VAGINITIS? SYMPTOMS, CAUSES AND AYURVEDIC TREATMENT
ABSTRACT
Today we will talk about Ureaplasma Vaginitis. Ureaplasma is a bacterial type that commonly originates in the urinary or genital tract. It doesn’t usually cause problems, but it can cause certain diseases and other conditions that can cause pain, discharge, or problems getting pregnant. Most people have ureaplasma in their bodies, but they don’t know it. However, Ureaplasma has been associated with infections and diseases affecting both the male and female reproductive organs. It can also be passed on to babies if the mother passes the infection to the baby during pregnancy. In this article, we will discuss its introduction, causes, symptoms, mode of transmission, diagnosis, prevention, and Ayurvedic overview of Ureaplasma vaginitis and treatment with herbal remedies.
INTRODUCTION
This is a genital infection caused by the bacteria Ureaplasma, which is why it is known as Ureaplasma Vaginitis. Since there is no oestrogen, the protection of the vagina disappears, and infection occurs easily when it enters the vagina. This disease usually occurs in sexually active adults.
CAUSES
Ureaplasma belongs to a group of bacteria called mycoplasmas. Mycoplasma, the smallest known bacterium of its kind, can self-mutate and multiply. Ureaplasma has no cell wall, which makes it different from bacteria.
SYMPTOMS
- Pain, discharge, and itching of the genital area–urethritis, Bacterial vaginosis
- Abdominal or pelvic pain: Endometritis, Prostatitis, Renal stones
- Difficulty in pregnancy: Infertility in both men and women
- In newborns: pneumonia, meningitis, injury to the lungs, and difficulty breathing
- In the Fetus: Miscarriage, stillbirth, premature birth
TRANSMISSION
This bacteria can be transmitted during sexual contact. This bacteria is higher in women with multiple sexual partners. It can also be transmitted to a foetus or newborn if the mother has a history of this infection during her pregnancy. It can also affect people with low immune systems.
HOW IS IT DIAGNOSED?
- A biopsy or swab to diagnose Ureaplasma
- Urine sample
- Vaginal discharge was collected with a platinum ring, and two smears were made, one for direct examination and the other for Gram staining.
PREVENTION
- Hygiene is a must
- Avoid intercourse with multiple partners
- Avoid unprotected intercourse and always use barrier methods
- Regular screening
- Don’t use public swimming pools
- Avoid putting deodorant directly on the skin
- Always wear cotton undergarments
